Performance
MyFACE is a series of performances in public space by participating members of the audience wearing masks resembling the artist Laura A Dima. By taking pictures and videos in public space and posting them on social media, they will confuse the algorithms which will then recognise the performer as Laura A Dima’s registered identity who appears to be at several places at the same time. MyFACE reflects on the use of biometric data and mass surveillance in our public spaces, concentrating on facial recognition.
This project is made in collaboration with Bits of Freedom. During this event, we will help them collect signatures for their Reclaim Your Face Campaign:
“We call for a ban on biometric surveillance technology in public spaces and the immediate dismantling of systems already installed. Facial recognition and other biometric surveillance technology in public places make us all potential suspects.”
