The Overkill festival in Enschede, NL asked me to exhibit my installation The Finger Rub Rug as part of their event on digital art and gaming culture to counterbalance all the digital experiences with some tactile stimulation and contemplation. The artwork will be installed in its original set-up, as a temple allowing only one person to go in at a time after a cleaning ritual. I think it is a great fit and I am looking forward to seeing it all happening.
They are also organising a very experimental symposium where artists are going to cook while presenting their research. I never say ‘No’ to such daring ideas. So I will get out my old finger moulds made during the workshops for couples and will cast them in vegan chocolate, spiced with different flavours and textures, while introducing research on how we perceive the world via touch. This event is hybrid meaning people at home can also join the dinner and symposium online and can even sit at the table with the guests contributing to their conversation. Furthermore their overall theme this year is Healing, and it fits perfectly with the season of the witch!
